King’s Cross to be powered by new solar farm under landmark energy deal

A 15-year agreement will see a Welsh solar farm provide 40% of the King’s Cross estate’s electricity demand.

King’s Cross has signed a landmark 15-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) with Shawton Energy to advance its transition to renewable energy.

The deal will see a new 8.6MWp solar farm built in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

Covering 28 acres, the Point Lane Solar Farm will feature 14,000 solar panels and provide around 40% of the King’s Cross estate’s total electricity needs.

The 67-acre central London neighbourhood, home to over 41,000 people, aims to become a net zero carbon estate by 2035.
